BIRDS OF A FEATHER!!

Do you ever see something and fall in LOVE with it and not know why? This is something I saw today and fell in love with! I don't know why it speaks to me, but it does...(and yes, I know I am in danger of become the crazy "bird" lady, much like those crazy "cat" ladies.) But I saw it at the thrift shop and it had to come home with me...I think It may inspire a painting or something...I just think its cute to look at.

A Smurftastic Spray painting extravaganza

Here is the story of a cute little craigslist swing that had seen better days. It was tan and starting to rust. So I grabbed my sister; the one who calls herself "my stupid lazy sister who can't manage to finish anything, so I have to do it for her"....I just call her Stacy...:)

Here is a pic of the swing before......

and here is a picture of it after a whole lot of spray paint. It so nice and refreshing looking. My sister is going to get some pillows for it and it will make a great place to read a book or take a little nap.

Now this table.....This table had seen better days. It was starting to rust ........

and it had these Horrible stains on it. (these were not from my sister, she bought the set like this at a huge discount, all because I had a vision)

and this is what that chair looks like now..Isn't it cute???? :)

and here is the whole set, all finished and ready for the 4th of July. It looks so great. All it took was some spray paint, and some sore trigger fingers from holding the button down on the spray can...(and yes, I know they make special things to make it easier, and believe me, I will invest in one...eventually..)

So there you have it...Isn't it SMURFALICIOUS????? (Sorry I think all the blue paint fumes have smurfed up my brain)..

Have a beautiful day!!

ART WORK & A PROJECT!!!

This is the story of my cute little bench that I picked up...Not much to look at....

but give it a coat of primer
 a couple coats of color
Get to spend the evening painting...which I loved....(don't mind the pic....I was into it and was not about to pretty myself up after running and painting and taking the kids to the park..:))

Finish her off, and distress her a little........

And here you get my "two is better" bench....I love it! Now I have to decide how much to ask for it...? I never know these things.

Have a beautiful day!!

Thanks to my girlie friend for calling me and telling me this beauty was sitting on the side of the road with my favorite 4 letter F word on it......F.R.E.E.....:) I have been wanting to find a cheap headboard and foot board and you can not get any cheaper than free....I can tell you the Hubby was ecstatic as usual about more stuff piling up on my to do list and filling up his shed, but oh, well......:) He loves projects and he will love trying to figure out how to turn this into a bench for me....heeeheee!! Stay tuned !!!!

My allium where it belongs

This is the painting I did for my dear friend Barb from  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sicilianos-Market/150135141814 She asked me to do this for her in exchange for her to do some stain glass for me. (she is very talented).

I was so nervous, as I had never painted this flower before. She sent me a picture of what she wanted, which was in the picture and I need to figure out how I would paint this beautiful flower. Well once the kids went to school I started messing around with some techniques and before I knew it I had figured out how I wanted to paint it. On the days that I painted this, I completely lost track of time. The first day I forgot to eat breakfast and lunch, and if you can believe it...Forgot to go to my favorite Thrift store...:) It was all worth it though, as I am so happy how it turned out.

F.R.E.E. !!!!!!!

This chair was sitting on the side of the road, once again while the hubby and I were out for a run. It sat sadly on the side of road waiting to be picked up by the trash man. It had seen better days. Well once again I asked the hubby if he would go back and pick it up for me when we got home. Sure enough, he did.

I was able to transform this sweet little chair into a cute little garden chair, with just a couple coats of SPRAY PAINT! :) She now sits on my side yard in a forest of honeysuckles and vinca and adds that little splash of color.

SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I scored some great stuff today at my local Goodwill today; now I just have to figure out what the schnitzel to do with it. I am sure I will come up with something. One of them was a new in box crayola art display. Its unfinished and meant to hang kids artwork on.  I can't wait to paint it and let my little artists hang up there stuff. Maybe ohhhhhhh maybe I MIGHT be able to see the front of my fridge again...probably not though..:)

Again my LOVE of spray paint

Bet you guys can't guess where I got this baby from..........??????? Wait for it........You got it; my local thrift store. This was one of those deal-eo's that you had to grab before it hit the ground. I just happened to be walking by the little furniture section and one of the workers was just about to set the table down. I have been to the store enough to know that things don't last long. I told him I wanted it before I had even looked at it or seen the chairs; which were still in the back room. Now he is used to this I am sure, as he was not surprised. I told him I would drive around and pick it up. $12.99. Sweet!!!! It was pretty beat up. It looked like it was originally green and sprayed with one can of silver spray paint that didn't quite cover. This table just needed a little LOVE!!

So here she is!!!! After a few coats of beautiful Spray Paint (this time I ended up with orange feet) I got this. Another project I had THOUGHT about selling, but ended up, not being able to part. Is it just me, or are there others like me. I have this with my paintings too...They become part of the family, and its hard to let go!!! Anyhow, ENJOY! Now I have a cute place to sit, and watch my hubby grill me some dinner...:)

before and after Bar stools

Well, my local thrift store came through for me once again, as well as my beloved spray paint..:). I got these babies for 4.99 each (it seems to be a popular price for my thrift store)

Well I had a vision! I needed something to go in my den, that would also match the color scheme of one of my paintings and the color scheme of the room; and wouldn't you know it...My thrift store pulled through for me once again with a salvage bolt of fabric for only $6.99. A WHOLE bolt and it matched. (I am now waiting on my mother who is making me throw pillows, since I can only sew a button on...)
So I get to spray painting the chairs, reupholstering the cushions...(I also LOVE staple guns) put it back together, and here is what it looks like...:)

I LOVE SPRAY PAINT!!!!!!!

I love spray paint. It comes in so many colors...The only bad side is the sore trigger finger..:) and depending on the color..sometimes smurf feet. :)
This next table was of course one that I picked up at the local thrift store....and.....believe it or not...even got the spray paint from. Sometimes our stores send Salvage items to the thrift stores and this was the case. A local craft store must have changed inventory and I was able to pick up some spray paint for 1.99...Can't beat that.  This was the table I decided to paint with this particular blue

knock off coffee table

This was a great idea I had gotten from the website, http://knockoffdecor.com/

I walked into my local thrift store and this baby was waiting for me once again for 4.99...It must be my magic number..:) I was going to sell it but the hubby fell in love and it now sits in the family room in the basement. Since I do not own one of those fancy die cutting machines, I had to paint the numbers on by hand. I finished with a satin varnish and she is good to go.

cute yellow chair

My husband and I found this simple oak chair while out for a run one day while we were camping. It was sitting in a yard with a free sign on it.....CHA CHING!!! my favorite 4 letter F word. :) So I asked him nicely if he would go back when our run was done and pick it up for me...Which he did without complaint...(insert sarcasm)
When we got back home, I tore off the fabric to find this beautiful vintage tapestry fabric, which decided for me what color the chair would become. A beautiful yellow color. I love how it turned out..Its so happy looking.
