Poppy oil painting

Here is just a quick little pic of one of my oil paintings that I did this winter.
I painted it and when I was done I put it downstairs to dry.
When I went to get all my stuff for my booth I found her sitting
waiting for me downstairs. I had forgot about her.
Its funny because I painted her in the winter when I was dreaming
of seeing the flowers; and now I am surrounded by all my
flowers blooming.
I hope you have a beautiful day.
Back to get more stuff ready for the booth tomorrow.

OFFICIALLY IN MY BOOTH

It is official!! I am IN my booth at CHANGING THYMES!!

**Visit me at Changing Thymes** **4165 Chicago Dr. SW** **Grandville, MI * Booth #1660 * 2nd. Floor**
It was quite a busy day yesterday. I got the call that the vendor that previously had my space had moved out and I could come in anytime and start loading up my booth. It was a whirlwind. The hubby was at his parents building me a farmhouse table out of old free deck wood, to put out by our fire pit. So the first load of stuff I ran up and down the stairs by myself. Then the MUSCLES showed up and he nicely carried up all my big stuff. Luckily the night before as you saw from the previous post I had inventoried and priced all my stuff out in the HOT and HUMID garage.  I still have a ton of stuff to put in the booth and will probably end up moving things around, but its a start. I kept thinking I wasn't gonna be able to put all my stuff in the booth, but now I see I can fit a ton more...it looks so bare...:)
I would just like to say THANK YOU!!  To all of my friends and family and all the blog followers who have been so kind with their words and their thoughts.  You have truly been amazing and I appreciate every single one of you. Most of all my Husband and my kids, who have had to put up with me as I crazily worked so hard to get all this done. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU..
I love you all!!!!
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!! I know I will

Memo Cabinet...True Beauty

I forgot to take pictures of this cabinet before I
got so excited and started painting her..:)
She was a regular, ole medicine cabinet with a mirror in
the front. It was an light oak color and had been sitting on
the shelf at my local goodwill. I actually passed her up
and then had to go back the next day and hope she was still
there because I had remembered, (big surprise that I remembered something...hence the need
for the memo board)...:)
why I wanted it....

so I painted her a cheery orange, and I took, the mirror out and transferred to the inside.
I took the chip board that was inside and painted it with home made chalk board paint.
(which is just 1/2 cup of latex paint and a table spoon of unsanded grout)
I thought it was a pretty clever saying if I do say so myself...and I do...:)
Look inside for true beauty...
and inside..you see....yourself....:)
BUT just don't look inside my GARAGE!!!

CAUSE THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL FIND!!!! A MESS!!!  This is me trying to price everything for my booth that I have to have done by Monday morning....UGH!!!!   Have a BEAUTIFUL day anyway...:)

My little French Provincial Princess

This is what she was meant to look like.

But of course; she started out looking like this...
Not much to look at...Yet...:)

So I got to work, sanding and priming..

Then painting, glazing and distressing her..

and here she is with her Marble top in perfect condition...,
back on its throne, where it belongs.

Thanks so much,
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!!

French drop leaf table

Here is the story of an UGLY table that I turned into a French dream!!!
Look at the bottom..someone had nicely cut out a piece of chipboard and screwed it
underneath to give a nice (I hope you are catching the SARCASM)
bottom shelf. They didn't even finish it..They left the shelf as chipboard.
I felt so sad for this table.

I could see the diamond in the rough. I got out the screwdriver
and took off the LOVELY shelf. :)
I could see the improvement already.

Now I don't know what they used to protect the top on this table, but I
think it was a combination of shellac, wax, and maybe a thin layer
of bubble gum. It was awful!!
I sanded with 60 grit in 90 degree heat and that stuff was not coming off.
It was there to stay. Plus when they finished it there were HUGE
drips over the edge that were like pieces of plastic.
So on to plan B.

I primed the WHOLE table!!
and painted with a nice graphic from none other than
The Graphics Fairy

I glazed and distressed the top and here she is in all her glory!!!

I think she turned out B.E.A.U.T.F.U.L.

"A little powder, a little paint, makes a woman what she ain't"
(that's for my sister...she loves when I get sayings that are stuck in my head
stuck in hers...:)))))
Have a BEAUTIFUL day.

Goodwill curtain, dollar store form, rosette wreath

Yesterday was a busy day...I got lots of projects done;
of course none of those were laundry.....:)

Yesterday at my local goodwill I bought the above old curtain,
ran over to the dollar store and got another straw wreath form and
some more hot glue sticks and started making another
Rosette wreath.  You can see the tutorial  HERE
I even got the sisal rope at goodwill.
As I was finishing up my oldest daughter told me
to put in some of these flowers that I have had laying around from odd projects.
This is how it turned out.

Have a BEAUTIFUL day! :)

SIGNS, SIGNS, EVERYWHERE SIGNS..

My booth opens up next week and I thought I better get to
making some "STUFF" other than art work and
furniture.

So I thought I would get to making some signs to hang.
I made these out of reclaimed boards that have been sitting around from
odds and ends projects...:)
I gave them a coat of spray paint...(more odds, and ends stuff that had just
enough to cover a board and the cans were done)
Drew out a pig and "la Boucherie" (which means BUTCHER, in French)
and painted them in.
I think they turned out adorable.

I hope you have a BEAUTIFUL day!

NAUTICAL Ball jar life preserver candle holder

AAAACKKKK!!!! I actually had another AH-HAAA! moment.
So excited that I couldn't wait until tomorrow to share.
While making rosette wreaths from my Goodwill curtain...
(that tutorial will be going up tomorrow)
I started wrapping this flower foam wreath just for fun-zzzies with
some of my left over material..
I had thought I was going to make another wreath..

And then as I was wrapping a little bit of jute rope around it I thought....
HEY!!! I could make a life preserver look for this...
Then I thought...HEY I could make a little candle holder life preserver...

So I started wrapping and gluing...(since I still do not have feeling in my
fingers from yesterday..:))

Then I went and grabbed a bunch of shell that my daughter
had "COLLECTED" that were now outside in a rock pile...:)
Put them inside with one of those battery powered tea lites;

and here she is...
Isn't it just so cute...
I am thinking of making 3 or so as a long centerpiece for
our patio table...

I hope you liked it
Have a BEAUTIFUL day, or night...:)

Corduroy Rosette wreath tutorial

I keep seeing all these neat burlap wreaths popping up all over blogland,
and I wanted to make one, but ....I didn't have any burlap.
What I DID have was that bolt of fabric that I have used over and over again.
(best 6.99 I ever spent) :)
So I ran down to the dollar store and got a straw wreath,
cut my strips of fabric and covered the wreath,
and started making rosette's...:)

Here is the simplest way I can show you how to make them.
Fold the fabric strip (about 12 inches long 2 inches wide)
in half. Glue the end together and start wrapping in a twisting motion.

Like this...drop a little bit of hot glue here and there to keep the rosette together...
(or to keep your fingers stuck together and burning of the skin, whatever you choose..:)

Man, I thought I swore a lot under my breath trying to sew something....
burning my knuckles with hot glue took that to a whole new level...
I told my husband that I think the C.I.A. could use this as some
sort of way to get information out of people...
It HURTS.....:)

But..Beauty is pain....:)
and look how BEAUTIFUL it turned out...
I love it...
I hope you do to.

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!!!

finishing up some weekend projects

This weekend was catch up time, from being away camping with the family.
I have had these pillow cases forever and have been wanting to do something to them.
So I went over to the graphics fairy
She has the best stuff....Printed off a French label
and turned it into an iron on..
 Voila!!!!!!!!
Then I got to work finishing up some signs I was working on.

Distressed some old boards and painted on them...

Loved the French stuff as usual...:)
Now we are off to enjoy a Family reunion.
Its been a busy busy week.
Have a beautiful day!!!
