gray half table

Sorry I don't have more pictures of this transformation. This is one of those Mom/A.D.D./crazy lady moments....:)
I was taking pictures and realized that they were being taken on my internal memory on my camera...(the sd card was in my computer...:))
SOOOO I went in to find the "DOO-HICKEY" that transfers from camera to computer and could not find
said "doo hickey" .....it is at that point, while primer was drying and air compressor was charging that I said
!@!@#$A@#$@$#@#@##........:)
So here is what I do have.....My friend Michelle saved me this table from the trash.
It was black and very very very beat up. I had to sand the heck out of it and primer it a couple times. Once that was done, I used
Rust-Oleums satin gray spray paint that I had left from a previous project and
gave this baby a couple coats. When she was nice and dry, I distressed the heck out of her.
Since she was already beat up around the edges it worked out nice, and I love how the details on the
leaves really pop with the distressing.

Once the paint was dry and she was distressed I
gave her a couple coats of lacquer.
I really do wish you could have seen how bad she looked before..but alas its not to be..:)
So here is how she now looks....

I hope you have a BEAUTIFUL day.

using thrift store frames for your art

Sorry I have been so busy lately. I was ill for a couple days and now we are getting ready for
back to school, and our labor day camping trip.
So I will just show you a great idea for framing your artwork on the C.H.E.A.P. :)

I had to 12x12 paintings that I needed framed for my booth.
Luckily I went to my local goodwill and found 2 frames with matting for
my paintings...only $6.99 each.
That is a ton cheaper than what I would have paid to have matted and framed.
So I got to dismantling the back and pulling up staples...cleaning and re matting the
painting.

And this is how they turned out. I love how the black and gold works with both
paintings.

So sorry about the bad photos. My camera battery was dying and I of course was rushing...:)
I hope you have a BEAUTIFUL night...since I am late to getting this up.

small round table

Since its Monday and I was feeling pretty yucky over the weekend...I thought I would show you a little project I did a couple of weeks ago. It was just a yucky old table from Goodwill. I loved the design in the top. I had originally thought about stripping the top and sanding but once I started I saw that the inlay was very very thin and wouldn't be able to handle it.

So I primed it instead.

I loved that even through the priming the inlay showed. So I was hoping that
when I painted it would show through too.. It did but I had to glaze it to get it to pop.

Sorry for the bad pics, but it was getting dark and getting a shot of the top was proving difficult.
I messed around with the saturation on the pic so you could see that the inlay still popped with the glaze.

Here is her actual color. She is an antique white with a dark glaze.
I hope you have a BEAUTIFUL day!

changing thymes "upstairs vendors" custom sign

Here she is!!! Waiting to dry...She has been painted and distressed and even has my custom Allium flowers on her.

This is my first ever commissioned painting and I know it is simple and primitive, but I loved it.
I stayed up until it was done last night so that it would be dry in time to lacquer it in the morning.

I get to look at her every time I bring something up to my booth.
I hope you like it.
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!!

Huntley Art Deco 3/4 Vanity Redo

I found this vanity at a Garage sale. There were many, many beautiful pieces of furniture
at this garage, which were way under priced, yet still out of my budget...:(
But this baby, she WAS in my price range, and she needed my help.

First I got to sanding her down. She had lots of damage that you can see how I repaired in my previous post.

I took the mirror off.

Then I got to priming.....whew!!! That was a doozy....

Then the funky cool brass handles needed some serious help.
I had thought about polishing them, but really didn't want that color with the color I chose for the vanity.

So I picked RUST-OLEUM'S hammered copper.
It was going to go so well with the color I had picked.

I chose a Ralph Lauren color that I had painted my armoire in my living room with a couple years ago.
Its espresso black. Its so rich and warm.

Then I got to distressing and finishing with lacquer.

I am absolutely in love with how she turned out.

Its another piece of furniture that my 2 oldest girls have threatened to confiscate..:) (Please don't mind the messy garage..:))
Have a BEAUTIFUL day.!!

HOW TO FIX VENEER FOR A PROJECT.

Since this art deco vanity is going to be my tutorial for Wednesday, I thought I would show you how to fix veneer before a painting
a piece of furniture.

First of all, try to get straight edges you can see where I needed to cut a straight line so that its easier to mend the veneer. I used an razor blade to cut straight lines for my new replacement veneer.

you can see in this picture I gave myself 2 straight edges.

Then you measure you piece of veneer to fit.

since this is going to be a painted project, it didn't matter what type of wood veneer I used. so I got this. It is pre-glued and you just use your iron to fix it.

Here I am ironing on the veneer to get the glue to heat and set to the drawer.
once the veneer is glued you use a razor blade to trim off any excess.

Here is how the drawer looked after fixing multiple missing veneer pieces. I hope you found this tutorial helpful.  Have a BEAUTIFUL day!!

French sewing table

SCORE!!!! Found this adorable little table at a thrift store.

I just loved her color and she already had a distressed look to her, so I knew right from the beginning I was NOT
going to paint over her natural distress and patina.

But what I did do, was take a wonderful MAGIC ERASER to the top of the table. I knew I couldn't hurt it
since it had obviously been a used table. But I didn't want to do anything to the top until I
got the old marker spots and food off of it. It worked like a charm.
I then lightly sanded the top.

I then of course went to the wonderful GRAPHICS FAIRY,
and found this great graphic. I had imagined
this table being a great craft or sewing table; and
on her graphics page was this old French graphic with
a sewing loom on it. I was in LOVE!!!!

So I used my carbon paper to get the design down,

and I started painting, and painting and painting.

This is what she was beginning to look like. But I wanted more,
so I sanded the top again and then glazed the top with with a dark glaze.

This is how BEAUTIFUL she turned out. Its like the graphic has been
there the whole time and was worn with the table...
I am so happy how it turned out.
I hope you have a beautiful day.
