Trashy dresser turned Entertainment Center

You ever have one of those projects where you think it will be REAL easy and
REAL quick....Yeah, me too.....EVERY TIME...

and then you see THIS!!
Yeah, I got the dresser for free. It was a Pick it up or its going to the dump sorta thing.
I HAD to save it. Not only was the bracket missing which I DIDN'T know..It was missing a drawer,
which I did know. So I instantly started work on it.
I knew if I waited too long I would let the dresser sit and I already had an idea brewing in my head.

So the minute I pulled it out of our truck I started working...(I should also mention
we had just pulled in from camping all weekend)
We keep a scrap pile of lumber in our shed and as luck would have it
An exact match to the size I needed.....FREE...

I cut it and notched it to match..

Lookie there...all  by myself...:)  Patting myself on back here..:)

Now we are getting somewhere.

Then AGAIN went to my shed where I had a scrap piece of plywood. I cut it so that it left a gap in
the back for what I had in store..

Then I got to painting. I used my Ce Ce Caldwells Slate sample I had just got...LOVE!
and painted the inside with my OOPS yellow paint
I finished it off with an old hobby lobby stencil I had in the basement.

Can you even believe this is the same dresser!  Its nuts. When I distressed it I wanted a little bit
of the old red to come through since this would be going in my basement which has red accents around the room.

You can see the red accents here. You can see the end table I redid and the Numbers table that I did and was one of my FIRST ever blog posts.
Also if you look at the back wall you can see the HOBBY LOBBY pics that I got at GOODWILL for $3.99....THEY STILL SELL THESE AT THE STORE....I couldn't believe someone bought and got rid of something that is still currently in stock...But one of my faves...The film reel above the pic????
NOPE its a spin tray thing that used to be on the bottom of a swivel TV base...:)  I am sooo cheap..;)

and here is my new entertainment center in its rightful place..

Hiding all of the BILLIONS of cords to the Blue ray...Wii...ETC!!
I love not having to look at those ugly things!!

I hope you enjoyed this too!!
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!!

GUEST POST for Redoux!

Head on over to Redoux and see my GUEST POST!!!

So excited to be doing my very first Guest Post for REDOUX!
If you haven't met Karen, you are missing out.
I have to admit I have a bit of a bloggy crush/fatal attraction
thing going on...but its totally for her Trash!!
Man that girl gets some AMAZING trash...
and if you know anything about me..I LOVE TRASH!!! :)
Anywhoo...I was so honored when she asked me for a guest post that I thought I had
make it SUPER TRASHY!!  get your mind out of the gutter...and INTO the dumpsters people!! LOL

If you remember yesterday, I did my post about my free pallet art from the wood I got
out of my neighbors garage. They were happy to have me haul it away.
I knew just what I wanted to do with it.

Like I have said before...free stuff and power tools make my day...
I think my hubby was a little miffed at me because he wanted to build
the table. I usually give him some of these kinds of projects, but that's when he is pestering me to clean out the garage or something..It will usually get him off my case for a couple days...:)

So with a couple of cuts I started making my table.
I had watched my husband make our beautiful farm table for our fire pit last summer
so I knew kind of what I needed to do. You can see that table HERE.

First I made my apron and attached the sides together.

Then I added my legs.

Then I added the boards to the top.

then I just stained the top. I am painting the legs.

Now for the fun part..Karen asked me to show you how I do my freezer paper transfers.
First I LOVE the graphics fairy since she supplies such amazing free graphics,
so I went on there and got a nice FRENCHY one; seeing as Redoux and I are
FRENCH CRAZY!! :)

I printed my graphic out on my freezer paper in reverse. I have glued my freezer paper to card stock to make it easier to feed through the printer. Shiny side up so that you can transfer the ink.

Now the fun part...again..:)  Here is where I lay down my graphic and start burnishing it
with the back of a spoon. Now don't get frustrated with this. I hear from quite a few people that
they haven't had any luck, but practice makes perfect.

You can see here the ink transferring to the table. I had to lay it back down a couple times
to make sure it came through enough; you just have to be careful not to move the paper
or it WILL smudge.

VOILA!!! A beautiful FREE FRENCH table.

I painted the legs with some paint I had. It was a mix of some  blue and cream color, to make a nice dusty blue.

I just love how it turned out; and the best part...FREE!!!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial,
and thank you again to my dumpster diving Team mate Karen!!!
I don't know what I would Redoux without you!
HUGS and have a BEAUTIFUL day.

LOTUS side table makeoverhttp://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=4537890190559800575#editor/target=post;postID=6347536392255813963

Here is another cute little side table that I got to use my Krink Permanent Paint pen on.
Make sure you enter the Giveaway for those HERE.

See this U.G.L.Y. table. My sister spotted this for me
at those garage sales I told you about a couple weeks ago...
But SHHHHHHH don't say anything..I still owe her the
whole $2 that it cost. I was out of money by the time we got to this house. :)

As you can see it was in pretty ruff shape. This was a LOVED table,
Like "I wish my brother George was here" Loved...:(
The top had essential oils and candle wax on it, so I had to sand that part
pretty good to make sure I got any lumps off.

Then it was Ce Ce Caldwells Traverse City Red to the rescue. (I am from Michigan so I loved it right away, just for the name)

When I waxed it I was so Happy how the purple came through with the red..It was a perfect combination.

And here is where the fun got Funner..(I know its not a word...I don't care)
I found a great little Lotus sketch in my binder that I keep and knew it was the perfect little OOMPH
for the table.

So I got out my ever so lovely KRINK pen and drew it on.

I really love how it just added that extra little something to the simple little table.
Don't forget too, only 6 more days for the giveaway..
Krink $150 worth of paint pens giveaway.
I hope you all have a BEAUTIFUL day.
